If you like romantic suspense, you’ll LOVE Patricia Bradley’s books!
After meeting her a few years ago at our KenTen Writing Group Conference, I fell in love with her first series (Logan Point), and I’m working my way through her second. I just got the third in her Cold Case Series, Justice Betrayed, and I’m chomping at the bit to get started – and now the next book in the series, Justice Delivered, is out! I may be reading 3 and 4 back-t0-back!
And guess what? One fortunate reader (leave a comment!!) will win a paperback copy of Justice Delivered!! Yay!!!
Now let’s hear from Patricia some of the highlights of researching her latest suspense novel!
Welcome, Patricia!
Several people have asked why I decided to write a book involving human trafficking. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, and Justice Delivered was a hard book to research. My research led me to personal interviews with women, mostly teens that had been trafficked. I met with women who helped other women escape their captors, and gained a lot of insight into human trafficking.
I also belong to Advocates for Freedom, an organization in Mississippi dedicated to ending human trafficking. Through this organization I’ve had an inside peek at this $150 billion dollar a year business. I’ve learned how trafficking works, about the life of a trafficked person, and why it’s so hard for women to break away from their captors. There’s no a simple solution.
Carly is a composite of my research. She’s a survivor, and she offers hope by example. If she can start over, anyone can. She works as a substance abuse counselor at Tabula Rasa – Latin for clean slate. You’ll have to read the book to learn why she doesn’t work as a counselor for women who’ve been trafficked.
Here’s the back cover copy:
Carly Smith came by her trust issues honestly. A victim of sex trafficking, she’s been at the mercy of merciless men, ignored by law enforcement officers who should have helped her, and seemingly rejected by her family. She can’t even trust herself to do the right thing. Though she escaped her captors and is working hard on building a new life, the past continues to haunt her when she discovers that the man she couldn’t bring herself to report to police for fear of reliving her captivity is still out there, luring vulnerable girls under the guise of being a modeling agent.
When her own niece is kidnapped, Carly must overcome her fears and come forward with the information she has before it’s too late. When that proves to be not enough, she’ll have to go after the perpetrators herself.
