I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. That’s NEXT week. But you know what? Christmas is barreling toward us.
My husband just shared with me that there are only 6 more Mondays until Christmas. He could have gone all day without saying that. My list is coming along, though. In fact, a few items arrived today!
Do you feel like it sneaks up on us quicker every year? Each year, after the holidays are over, I tell myself that I’ll get my shopping done earlier, plan my activities more carefully, and will truly enjoy the season.
Guess what? Life happens. Unexpected activities crop up. Name-drawing doesn’t happen until Thanksgiving, tearing to shreds the idea of having all my shopping done before Thanksgiving.
But something happened on Sunday that I didn’t expect. A little, tiny gurgle of excitement rippled through me. It made me giggle just a little bit. Every time it happened, I felt a tingle of anticipation course through my veins.
What was it, you may ask? What could it have been to turn what might be considered a Grinch-like mood into the beginnings of the Christmas spirit?
It came from our praise band drummer. We use an electronic drum set, and guess what he found?
The jingle bell setting.
Sigh. You know toward the end of the movie, White Christmas, when they open the doors behind the stage and a horse-drawn sleigh passes through in the background? You don’t just see it. You hear it.
You hear jingle bells. Sleigh bells.
That’s all it took.
Find some jingle bells. It will help. Really.
Oh, and I woke up to snow this morning!
Happy Pre-Thanksgiving-Christmas planning and preparation!
