Today I welcome author and friend, Sherri Wilson Johnson! I’ve had a ball interviewing her, and talking about her latest novella in the anthology, Erie Canal Brides! You’ll remember hearing about it a few weeks ago HERE!
And we have another GIVEAWAY!! If you didn’t win a copy of Erie Canal Brides last time, you have another shot! Just answer the question at the end of the post to be entered to win!
But I digress . . . Here’s Sherri!
What is one thing you have to do to yourself before you go out in public?
Put on my makeup!! Even when I go to the gym. I wear less and less as I age, but I still consider makeup a must-have/must-do. We can’t go about town scaring the small children, after all. 😉
Oh, Sherri! LOL When I first met you, you had to put hot rollers in your hair before going to Cracker Barrel! But I agree – if nothing else, a little eye-liner and mascara! It’s for the children, after all . . . 😉
What is your favorite movie and why?
There are so many! But probably the original “Footloose.” I love any dancing movies, although I can’t really dance. I had a wild crush on Kevin Bacon as a teen and I was a preacher’s daughter who could relate to the lack of attention Ariel received from her dad. But really, I just loved the dance scenes.
Would you believe I’ve never seen Footloose? I seriously think I’ve missed out!
A lot of interviewers ask for your favorite book. That’s just not fair! What has been the most recent book you’ve read that excited you or moved you in some way? Why?
Boundaries by Henry Cloud. There were some people in my life who I had let have too much power in my decision-making and I just needed to create space. This book helped me to see that it was healthy to set boundaries.
I need to look for that one! Isn’t it great when a book literally makes that light-bulb pop over your head? God’s cool like that, isn’t He?
Is there someone, alive or dead, who had a major influence on your writing life, or on your life in general?
The dear Sandra Robbins, who not only was a client of mine, but a writing mentor and friend. She critiqued my work and encouraged me to continue my quest, while at the same time gently correcting my work. I miss her dearly.
So do I, Sherri. So do I. She mentored and loved on so many authors, and just people in general, and literally, in a critique session in our writing group, slashed the entire first scene of my first book! LOL! And you know what? It worked! 🙂 Great choice!
FEATURED BOOK: The Erie Canal Brides Collection
Seven romance stories take you back to the building of the Erie Canal and the opening of the Midwest to greater development.
Completed in 1825, the Erie Canal connected the Great Lakes to the Hudson River, and soon other states like Ohio created canals linking Lake Erie to the Ohio River. Suddenly the Midwest was open to migration, the harvesting of resources, and even tourism. Join seven couples who live through the rise of the canals and the problems the waterways brought to each community, including land grabs, disease, tourists, racism, and competition. Can these couples hang on to their faith and develop love during times of intense change?
The Bridge Between Us by Sherri Wilson Johnson

Hi Sherri and Regina, I enjoyed learning about Erie Canal Brides and I look forward to reading this collection. I’ve read several good books lately and I was especially impressed with How the Light Gets In by Jolina Petersheim.
