The blurb:
When colonial Williamsburg explodes like a powder keg on the eve of the American Revolution, Lady Elisabeth “Liberty” Lawson is abandoned by her fiancé and suspected of being a spy for the hated British. No one comes to her aid save the Patriot Noble Rynallt, a man with formidable enemies of his own. Liberty is left with a terrible choice. Will the Virginia belle turned lacemaker side with the radical revolutionaries, or stay true to her English roots? And at what cost?
I may be partial because she’s another Kentucky author and has the best hugs, but Laura Frantz is a writer that I would read if she wrote the backs of cereal boxes. Thankfully, she doesn’t. She writes historical romance in a way that keeps you up way too late and leaves you oh-so satisfied, and yet wanting more. Click HERE to see all her books on Amazon!
This summer I read her latest novel, The Lacemaker. I was a little late to the party, but that’s how it goes when you’re writing your own books. So many books, so little time.
When I started it, I was prepared to love it, but didn’t know just how much.
You know how the stars just seem to align, putting different types of media together to create a cohesive picture? It happened for me when I read her novel, A Moonbow Night, and then saw a Chautauqua performer portraying Daniel Boone. This time it came in the form of a television series, AMC’s “TURN: Washington’s Spies.”
My Review:
“If you like a large slice of swoon-worthy romance and a hero that lives up to your expectations, The Lacemaker is the book for you! Tories and “Independence Men,” behind the scenes look at the inner workings of “burgesses” becoming “delegates,” family divisions, and Williamsburg politics all play a part in the forefront of the romance, not just the background. Having recently watched AMC’s “TURN: Washington’s Spies” as well as having visited Williamsburg, VA, I was able to pour myself right into the story, and I did not want it to end! I want to know more about Noble and Liberty, and the fate of Ty Mawr and Ty Bryn! Laura Frantz is the one historical author that never disappoints. Her heroes are heart-stopping, and rival any secular romance hero I can imagine while maintaining their Christian values. Her descriptions pull you into the pages and do not let go, leaving you almost bereft when finished, as if you’ve left your best friend that you may never see again, yet satisfied that you had an extraordinary visit together.”
Laura next book, A Bound Heart, releasing in January, 2019, is available on pre-order!! I can’t wait!
