Happy Friday!!
Jumping on here for a minute to let you know that I’m trying SO HARD to get more writing done!! I’m easily distracted.
Monday, my baby girl, Ellen, turned 25. Yes, my BABY. How did this happen???
I just finished watching the trailer for the new “Emma” movie based on the Jane Austen novel, and it has as a minor, but comedic, character, one of my favorite British actresses, Miranda Hart. She is THE BEST. Sure, she’s on “Call the Midwife,” and is awesome on it, but if you haven’t watched her sitcom, “Miranda,” you MUST. It’s on some streaming services, and several episodes are on youtube. She’s amazing.
Here’s a tiny bit for your viewing pleasure! “Where’s Miranda?” https://youtu.be/S3LW9Z2tCJY
On to more important things!
What are you reading? No, really! I want to know!!
I’m almost finished reading Lorna Seilstad‘s first book with Mosaic, More Than Enough, and I can’t GET enough!!
Here’s the blurb:
Quirky Fiona McGrath loves her job as a Child Life Specialist at a Dunedin, Florida hospital. As a former foster child, she understands trauma and wants to ensure no child ever faces the same kind of fears she once did. But are fears truly in the past?
Gabe Cavenaugh’s life is right on schedule. As the youngest assistant Chief Financial Officer in the hospital’s history, he has much to prove, but he’s confident he can do anything he’s asked. After all, he’s secure in his faith and has the constant support of his family.
When Gabe is directed to make cuts in order to balance the hospital’s budget, his search leads him to the Child Life Program and to Fiona. How can this crazy, hat-wearing woman, who rides around on a sparkly scooter possibly be a vital member of the medical team?
As Fiona works to persuade Gabe about her job’s necessity, he begins to see there’s more to her and her work with young patients than wacky clothes.
But will she be enough to save her program? And could she possibly be enough for a man like Gabe?
How many of us have asked the question, “Am I enough?”
All of us. We compare ourselves, we listen to that voice deep inside that tries to undermine our confidence, and you know what comparison is?
Comparison is the thief of joy.
So if you’re wondering, “Am I enough?”, find a “Miranda” video and laugh your head off. Then find a copy of More Than Enough and laugh AND cry your head off (more laughing than crying, for sure!), and be good to yourself. Yes, I’m preaching to myself, too!
God loves you, and since we’re to love one another, sometimes we need to practice on ourselves a little bit.
Happy Friday, and happy long weekend!
P.S. Congratulations, Amy Anguish! You’re the winner of a box of Harry and David Moose Munch from last week’s post!!! I’ll be messaging you . . . !
