It’s been a while. How ’bout a cup of your favorite hot beverage? We can go sit on the swing and talk.
Lots of restoration going on. Restoration/renovation.
According to Mikayla Chapman, an Aussie on the Internet, here, “Although they are closely related, when you do a renovation you upgrade, add to, or restyle and when you do a restoration you bring it back to, or maintain, its original look and style.”
I think in this season of life, “renovation” comes nearer to my experience. Home. Life You name it, it’s being renovated whether I like it or not.
The last post I had here was announcing the release of Window of Peace. In April.
It’s been a haul lately. In July, exactly one year and eight days after my mom passed, my dad passed. So, as you can see, I’ve been a bit preoccupied.
But God is good.
In August 2023, Todd and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary!
In other news, my latest release, Heart Restoration, is live! It’s a re-published book, but if you haven’t read it, I hope you like it. It was previously self-published under the “Mosaic” collaborative logo, and my publishers at Scrivenings Press was gracious enough to pick up this series that is so dear to my heart.
The RenoVations Inc. romantic suspense series is about a family of contractors who just happen to have the last name “Reno.” Hence the name of their company, RenoVations Inc.
Book 1, Heart Restoration, released this week (Sept. 5); Book 2, Twelve Days of Mandy Reno (my first Christmas book!!) on November 14, 2023; and Book 3, Rebuilding Joy, Feb. 20, 2024.
As a lot of you know, I love all things home-improvement.
Remember “The Home Show?” Probably not. It ran from 1988-1994. Before that there was “This Old House,” the granddaddy of all DIY and home reno shows.
I was partial to the design shows – “Devine Design” with Candace Olsen,” “The Christopher Lowell Show” (heights and levels!), and don’t even get me started on the home organization classic, “Clean Sweep.” It streams NOWHERE, and I’ve read every book Peter Walsh has written. To look in my basement and upstairs, you wouldn’t think organization would be an interest of mine …
That walk down television memory lane was all in advance of this – I want to share some of the renovations we’ve done on our new (to us) house, and I’m working on plot lines for more books in the RenoVations Inc. series.
Also, I wanted to be an interior designer when I grew up, but went with “sensible,” instead. Oh well. A girl can dream — and she can do her own house any way she wants!
Stick with me. I’m trying to get back in the groove of posting again, at least once a week, and I want to hear from YOU!
What are you working on, home, writing, anything? Is there a project you’d like to tackle but can’t get up the nerve? Funny stories about DIY gone wrong? (Remind me to tell you about the cat attacking after a particular project.)
My writing is important to me, but you know what? It’s just a part of who I am. All those other things make me the person I am today whether it be writing or picking out tile. And to be able to combine them in a series about, of all things, renovation experts?
Perfect.
Because you’ve been gracious enough to get this far, I want to give you, dear reader, an opportunity to win a signed paperback, or an ebook copy of your choice of my books: Love in Any Season (novella collection), Window of Peace, Heart Restoration. If there’s another you’ve been wanting to read, let me know – I can hook you up. You can see my book list here. Leave a comment below to be entered in the drawing on Thursday, September 14.
Thanks for listening (reading). I’ve missed you.
