Wait. Pray. Do.

On Tuesday, February 13, I finished reading through Carolina Mercy, typed “THE END,” and pushed “send” to the email containing my second contracted novel.

It was a relief. Now I wait for feedback. (Would you believe I almost put the word “just” in that last sentence? Ugh. I’m such a weasel-word addict.)

What comes next, you ask? When will this book come out, you ask?

I will start with the latter. Carolina Mercy, book 2 in the Southern Breeze Series, will release in July 2018. (Insert little squeal here.)

Drumroll . . .

I’m 1,400 words into Carolina Grace, book THREE of the Southern Breeze Series! It’s still very preliminary, but after days of agonizing over what characters to highlight, and what truth needed to be told, I decided to just start writing and see what happened.

I know, that’s the “seat-of-the-pants” me coming out, but now that I have some direction, I’m starting to feel the story flow.

Isn’t that a lot like the way we live our everyday lives? We worry about something, wondering which way to turn, what decision to make, what is that “best” that God has for us? I like to think of it as the “wallowing” phase.

That’s where faith comes in, every time. We think we need to be DOING something, but sometimes we just need to WAIT, PRAY, and DO.

Sometimes, God tells us to WAIT, slow down, catch our collective breath. Always, He tells us to PRAY. Pray without ceasing. And then? If we’ve taken the time (waiting) to listen to what He says (praying – the two-way kind), we’ll know when it’s time to DO.

It’s not that hard, friends. The hard part is letting go of control, of having faith that God will lead us through the hills and valleys of writing, and of life.
