Cold weather.
I’m not a fan.
When my husband was approached about working for the Tentmakers ministry, I’ll be honest, my greatest fear was that they would ask us to move to Minnesota. (shout-out to authors Brenda Anderson and Stacy Monson! I’m talking about Brenda’s books this Friday!)
I have nothing against Minnesota. I spent three wonderful weeks there this summer. In August. I made a discovery. To compare summer weather in Minnesota to summer weather in Kentucky, it goes something like this:
In Kentucky – May, warm to hot; June, warm to hot; July, hot; August, hotter; September, hot.
In Minnesota – May, cold; June, warmish; July, warm; August, warm; September, coolish.
Minnesota is like Kentucky except that it basically skips our July and August. It’s like one long June, and then fall gets there. Another interesting thing about Minnesota in summertime is that they hardly use any ice in their drinks. Living in a house where our favorite feature on an appliance is the icemaker, that was so strange to me. But come to think about it, the water from the tap was already freezing cold, so what would have been the point, really?
Fortunately, after agonizing over real estate listings of Minnesota houses on Zillow (all of which had at least a foot of snow on the ground), he gets to work from home. Big sigh of relief. (No, this pic isn’t actually from Zillow, but you can’t blame a girl for a little hyperbole on occasion.)
Mind you, I’m the first to squeal over the first snowflake, and as long as I can stay in with my gas logs and my hot tea with something simmering on the stove, I’m great. Shut down the whole town and make everyone stay home and play cards. But make me go outside and function in the real world? Nope. Just, NO.
I whine. I get irritable. I would make a good bear, come to think of it. Hibernation has always intrigued me . . . but then so does siesta. My dream is to move to a country – a warm one – in which siesta is held up as law.
All that to say this. The last few days have felt like Minnesota did during a week-long cold snap I experienced THIS SUMMER. It’s been in the 40s and 50s. It’s been damp and dreary.
Remind me why I complained about being hot this time last week?
What’s the weather like in YOUR neck of the woods? If it’s above 70, you may find me on your doorstep.
Have a great Wednesday!

Yay for your husband! Sounds like the perfect position for him.
We would have loved to have you in Minnesota! It really isn’t so bad here … except for November through March … and we don’t typically get snow in April and October. 2018 is an anomaly! 😉
Guess Stacy & I will have to visit you in Kentucky!
