Happy Wednesday!
I’m excited to introduce you to author Melony Teague. As soon as I read her bio and the blurb from her debut novel, I was intrigued!
Here’s s bit about Melony:
Melony Teague is a freelance writer who believes everyone has a story to tell. As co-author of As the Ink Flows, she loves to inspire and motivate others through her written words. She writes Contemporary Romance with a dash of humor, her debut A Promise to Keep released in Jan, 2020. Teague us a member of ACFW. She has never met a Starbucks she didn’t love and has been known to eat vegetables for breakfast—well, pumpkin pie—same thing. Melony was born in South Africa and now lives in Toronto with her husband, their two teenagers, and two cats.
An Interview with Melony:
Do you look on writing as a “calling?” For me, yes, but it isn’t for everyone.
What is one story from real life that you’ve included in one of your books? In the last few years there have been many trench rescues that our technical rescuers have been called out to. When I was chatting to our local firefighters and my technical rescue consultant, they mentioned a time when a man had dug a trench to pilfer gas from his neighbor and it almost got him killed. I included this kind of scenario in A Promise to Keep.
I think I’ve included real-life stories in each of my books! It’s a great way to preserve stories!
What is one thing you have to do to yourself before you go out in public? Put earrings in and mascara on. I feel weird without earrings. I can sometimes sneak out without mascara, but I feel worse when I’ve forgotten earrings. I’m weird like that.
I’m with you, Melony! I’m a mascara girl. I can go with out earrings before I can go without my eyeliner and mascara!
What is your favorite movie and why? Oh goodness, that’s a hard one to answer. I tend to forget movies as soon as I’ve seen them and my family teases me about that. But I do like rewatching Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth.
YES!!!! That’s one of my all-time favorites, too!
A lot of interviewers ask for your favorite book. That’s just not fair! What has been the most recent book you’ve read that excited you or moved you in some way? Why? I just finished reading Nicole Deese’s Before I Called You Mine and it was phenomenal. This one is a must read for 2020 for sure. Deese tackles the subject of motherhood, international adoption and family with great insight and heartfelt emotion.
Sounds intriguing!
If you were on a deserted island with a laptop and no wifi, what are two programs or apps you would have to have on your computer? First, I don’t think I’d survive without wifi, but if I had to then I guess I’d want some sort of word processor so I could write, and my kindle app, pre-loaded with all the books I’d ever need. Is there an app that makes chocolate too? I guess not.
I think someone should start working on that chocolate-making app NOW, don’t you? Just in case? 🙂
Thanks, Melony!
Melony’s debut novel, A Promise to Keep:
Research librarian Savannah Sanderson wants nothing more than to escape into her happily-ever-after novels with their larger-than-life fictional heroes. But a promise to her late husband has her attending her dreaded twenty-year high school reunion, drinking ghastly punch, and taking desperate measures just to keep her vow, even if she has to hide behind the décor to do it.
Once a reckless troublemaker, Michael McCann fled town after graduation. Now a professional technical rescuer, he’s back for the reunion, but on his trip down memory lane, he soon comes face to face with unresolved issues, namely Savannah.
Before the night is over, a pact between these two old friends will lead them on an adventure into uncharted emotional territory where Michael must confront his past regrets and find the courage to reveal the truth. But can Savannah fly from her sheltered nest and risk her heart on a real-life hero?
I don’t know about you, but this is EXACTLY the kind of book I love to read! Here’s where you can find it!
